Dongrun Foundation was established on August 19, 2015. It is a private foundation registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, operating nation-wide under the jurisdiction of the Ministry. Members of its Board of Directors include Dongmei Kong, serving as the President, and Shing-Tung Yau, Xu Chen, Lo Yang and other prestigious scholars and experts. Dongrun is committed to promote the spirit of public welfare and contribute efforts to the education of the country’s young science talents. The Foundation strives to reach out and help the poor and the victims of disasters, provide financial support to outstanding teachers and students, improve the living and learning conditions of students in less developed areas, encourage them to strengthen their abilities for better development, and contribute to the nation’s efforts in training future generations of young talents to compete in the international arena.
Ever since its establishment, Dongrun Foundation has worked closely with Professor Shing-Tung Yau to support the Dongrun-Yau Science Award, aiming to encourage young people to discover the fun of scientific innovation and fundamental research, as well as learn to be creative and think creatively. Winners of the Award have been accepted to Tsinghua University, Peking University, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Yale and other elite schools around the world. The event has not only attracted the support of renowned scientist from various countries, but also won the attention and participation of top universities such as Tsinghua, Zhejiang and Fudan. Dongrun-Yau Award will continue to provide Chinese high school students from home and abroad with more opportunities of communication and higher education.
With the leadership of Dongmei Kong and the strong support of Board members and institutions involved, Dongrun Foundation is determined to carry on the work of public welfare, promote the education of younger generations.
